Since my blog has been viewed by people not from Holland, i will try to make it in Englisch. So 2 weeks ago i went to this little bookshop for secondhand books. Its a verry cute bookshop and the next time i will go there, i will make a picture. just to give you an impression: its small, old, cute, almost everything is made out of wood and the shop is authentic. In that little bookshop i purchased a book that was made in 1931!! The book is called " Tess of the D'ubervilles", wich is a verry romantic but sad book, believe me!
Is it just me or are old (secondhand) books so much more romantic to have? I mean, maybe romantic is not the right word, but i can't find a better word to fit the feeling. I just love my new book that came out of 1931, especially if the book is also a classic novel. Just think about all the people that held it in there hands. It might have been a young lady, looking for love or it might have been a old woman who got it from her husband to read. It doesnt matter who it ever belonged to, because now its mine.
If you ever get the chance to read this novel, than please do. It is a wonderfull story about a real woman going through life. But it is also a heartbreaking story...
Underneath you can see the book, along with another old book i have. It's called "Jane Eyre" and it this book is from 1945.
